Summary

 

About the Role

A unique opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, proactive, and customer-focused individual to join the Council’s top-performing Finance division. This is a permanent position that requires 34 hours per week.

With new leadership in place for the past two years, the team is currently experiencing transformation, so this is an excellent opportunity for someone with energy to create their own mark on the role.

This position provides financial support and guidance on the Council’s budget and final accounts, ensuring that the Council meets its statutory financial requirements, with a special emphasis on capital accounting.

It also provides financial support and guidance to service units to assist them in creating a sound financial environment inside their units while adhering to the Council’s Financial Regulations.

The function also includes completing the annual VAT partial exemption computation and overseeing taxation matters for the Council.

About You

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of 5 GCSEs level 4 or above (or equivalent) with a specific aptitude for Maths, English, and IT, be a qualified member of AAT, or have a minimum of two years’ relevant accounting experience.
You should have prior expertise using computerised financial systems as well as Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. You should also be numerate, able to operate accurately under pressure with minimal supervision, and pay close attention to detail.

A CCAB Accountant qualification is desired, but not required.
