Job Description

Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP)

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust

An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated neonatal team at University Hospital Sussex. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated practitioner who is passionate about delivering exceptional neonatal care across our sites.

You will work between our ANNP-led Level 1 Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Princess Royal Hospital and our Level 3 tertiary NICU, which includes surgical services at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit.

What We Offer

You will be joining a supportive and forward-thinking service with:

  • A fully ANNP-led neonatal model of care
  • A growing Level 3 medical and surgical intensive care unit
  • Access to the Sussex Neonatal Transport Service
  • Comprehensive professional development tailored to your individual goals
  • A newly developed two-tier ANNP structure offering cross-site experience and exposure to a wide range of clinical scenarios

We are committed to ensuring you have the right environment, training, and support to continue developing across all clinical and academic pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice.

About the Role

This role combines clinical duties with defined non-clinical responsibilities, supporting your growth across all four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice. You will contribute to service development, clinical governance, and professional education.

The post includes Tier 1 cross-cover duties (equivalent to an SHO rota) at both the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and the SCBU at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. Your primary base will be at the Princess Royal Hospital.

As an ANNP, you will provide skilled, family-centred care for neonates and will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based clinical management in the neonatal unit, postnatal ward, and central delivery suite.

Role weighting:

  • 80% Clinical
  • 20% Non-clinical

Non-clinical time will focus on leadership, education, research, quality improvement, and ongoing development within the ACP framework.

Visa Sponsorship

This post is eligible for sponsorship through the UKVI Skilled Worker route, provided applicants meet all requirements, including relevant skill criteria and the minimum salary threshold of £25,000. Full information on requirements is available at:
