Job Description
A New opportunity has opened for a motivated and aspiring Junior Sister to join our team on Ward 10 at Castle Hill Hospital.
Ward 10 is a 21-bed unit dedicated to caring for male patients undergoing colorectal surgery. The ward also includes a four-bed High Observation area, where patients recovering from major surgery receive close monitoring during their immediate post-operative period.
This role offers a genuine chance to grow your clinical expertise while developing strong leadership and management skills. You will be supported by an experienced senior nursing team, and the Trust’s close relationship with the University of Hull means you will have access to excellent professional development pathways.

Our senior team is committed to continuous improvement and ensuring we consistently deliver high-quality, patient-focused care.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will work clinically as part of the nursing team while partnering with the Senior Sister to provide professional, clinical, and managerial leadership. You will also act as a deputy in the Senior Sister’s absence, ensuring the smooth running of the ward and a positive experience for every patient.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing visible leadership and guiding clinical nursing practice within the ward.
- Ensuring the highest standards of care with support from the Matron and Deputy Nurse Director.
- Managing and escalating clinical and non-clinical risk issues to the Senior Sister.
- Handling enquiries and complaints from patients, families, and colleagues with professionalism and compassion.
