About This Opportunity
The University of Reading is looking for two experienced Senior Maintenance Electricians to join our Campus Operations team within Estates. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across our three stunning campuses—Whiteknights, London Road, and Greenlands—each set within exceptional landscaped environments. Our Estates team is responsible not only for maintaining academic and research facilities, but also for caring for champion trees, a large lake, and extensive sports facilities. No two days are ever the same.

Salary & Benefits
- Estimated package: ~£43.6k, including:
- Basic Grade 5 salary up to £35,000
- Average £2,750 on-call standby allowance
- Average £2,750 overtime payments
- Additional responsibility payments up to £2,500 (depending on qualifications, skills, or experience)

About the Role
As a Senior Maintenance Electrician, you will play a vital part in maintaining the University’s low-voltage electrical networks and associated systems. The role involves reactive and planned maintenance across a wide portfolio of buildings and facilities, ensuring a high-quality, customer-focused service at all times.
You will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults across varied and complex installations
- Carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on LV electrical systems
- Providing timely, professional support in line with service level expectations
- Managing your own workload effectively and keeping the CAFM system updated
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with University procedures, legislation, and safe working practices
Who We’re Looking For
Please demonstrate clearly in your application how you meet the following criteria:
1. Recognised electrical apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Maintenance, including C&G AM2 practical assessment
2. Strong experience across all aspects of electrical maintenance: planned, preventative, and reactive
3. Proven ability to fault-find on complex electrical installations
4. Thorough understanding of electrical safe working practices and relevant statutory requirements
5. Strong customer service skills with a confident, clear communication style
6. Flexible, professional, well organised, and proactive in approach
7. Willingness to participate in the Maintenance Team on-call rota
