Working in a prison environment is unlike any other. It offers the chance to support a vulnerable population, deliver trauma-informed care, and make a genuine impact every single day.

About the Role

We are looking for Band 5 mental health nurses who are compassionate, motivated, and ready to embrace a diverse and challenging caseload. You will join a multidisciplinary team that values person-centred care, open communication, and strong partnership working. Our vision is simple: to deliver safe, effective, and trauma-informed healthcare tailored to the needs of every individual in our care.

As part of this team, you will play a vital role in shaping mental health services across Forth Valley’s prison settings. You will work closely with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) and external agencies, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs and contributing to a holistic approach that considers every aspect of wellbeing.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in new, progressive developments within the mental health nursing service
  • Work autonomously while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support individuals with varied and often complex needs
  • Bring enthusiasm, initiative, and professional curiosity to a modern and evolving service

Who We are Looking For

You must be a first-level registered mental health nurse eager to continue developing your clinical skills and decision-making abilities. We welcome applications from individuals who are ambitious, resilient, and committed to contributing positively to an innovative healthcare service.

This role requires flexibility, and all posts are rotational. You must also be willing and able to travel across the full service area.

Professional Development

NHS Forth Valley Prison Healthcare places a strong emphasis on supporting the ongoing personal and professional growth of every team member. You will have access to training and development opportunities designed to help you strengthen your practice and progress in your career.
