Maintain a safe and orderly work and patient environment, including clinical areas. Perform a variety of duties including direct patient care as directed by qualified practitioners, and ensure that delegated nursing care/treatment is carried out efficiently.

Maintain an effective communication network, both verbal, written, and electronic, informing professional staff about any issues that would ordinarily be referred to a more experienced person. Assist patients in using toilet facilities and disposing of bodily waste. Assist in collecting pathology specimens. Assist with the safe movement and handling of patients and equipment throughout the unit, as well as across wards and departments.

Assist staff with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures by preparing, cleaning, and handling equipment as needed. Help maintain materials, equipment, and stock by reporting faults and defects in a timely and appropriate manner. Respond and help, as ordered by registered staff, in the event of a health emergency. Assist patients in preserving their emotional well-being, personal hygiene, appearance, and dignity by monitoring and reporting any changes to qualified professionals.
