Australia to start applications for work Holidays visas in 2024

In light of Canberra’s decision to include Filipinos in the new visa programme, the Australian Embassy in Manila said on Friday that applications for the “work and holiday visa” will be accepted starting in 2019.

During his official visit to Manila on September 8, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the “new reciprocal work and holiday visa for Australians and Filipinos” as he and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. looked for ways to strengthen the people-to-people, cultural, and economic ties between the Philippines and Australia.

This kind of visa, according to the Australian Department of Home Affairs, enables eligible nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 to take an extended vacation in Australia and work for a short while to help pay for it; study for up to four months; or work for three months in “specified subclass 462” employment to qualify for a second work and holiday visa.

Having sufficient money to maintain oneself while in Australia is one of the conditions.

According to the home affairs department, this may be roughly PHP 180,900 (5,000 Australian dollars) for the first visit and extra money to buy a ticket to leave Australia at the end of the stay.

The work and holiday visa, which grants the holder a minimum of 12 months of stay in Australia, costs roughly 635 Australian dollars (or PHP 22,974).

The Australian Embassy in Manila has not yet released any information regarding the application procedure for citizens of the Philippines as of this posting.

By the next week, it promised to produce a fact sheet, and it stated that “applications will open next year at a date to be announced.”
