Job Description

Summary

Applications are being accepted for a post as a research assistant in a multisite project sponsored by the Simons Foundation that will examine sensory biomarkers in preschoolers with autism in the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading.

You will seek out families with young children who have autism, arrange visits with the families, and conduct a battery of tests on the young child. This will be done in conjunction with a larger research team. Dr. Teresa Tavassoli of the University of Reading, Prof. Emily Jones of Birkbeck University, and Kings College London are working together on this project (Dr Nick Puts). The University of Reading will be the site of the empirical research.

If you want to succeed, you must:

  • has a demonstrated history of success dealing with autistic children and/or significant expertise using EEG with young children.
  • Understanding of experimental techniques and developmental testing is crucial.
  • You will be competent with fundamental software, such as SPSS and Excel.
  • The capacity to function successfully with kids and parents in a research setting.

The position has a fixed tenure of up to two years.
