Job Summary
We are searching for a Registered Children’s Nurse with considerable clinical and management credentials and experience to serve on a permanent basis within the Senior Matron for Children and Young People’s portfolio.
The selected applicant will have held a Band 7 or above leadership position and will be a professional/clinical leader for a large Registered and Non-Registered Nursing staff in Paediatric Services.
The position holder will have a high level of autonomy and will work independently within the limitations established for the post.
This post requires excellent leadership and communication abilities, as well as expertise building successful collaborations with internal and external stakeholders and managing human resources. The selected candidate must have advanced people management skills, such as decision-making, negotiation, influencing, and persuasion.
The post holder will have a very visible, accessible, and authoritative presence, and will be available to patients, families, and staff to provide assistance, guidance, and support, as well as address any concerns that arise.
The successful candidate will contribute to the service and specialty’ strategic direction by meeting key performance metrics as well as national and local activity targets.
Main responsibilities of the job
The post-holder is the line manager and professional/clinical leader of the nurses/midwives and support staff in his or her field of responsibility, reporting to the Head of Nursing for guidance, supervision and direction. T
The postholder will provide professional guidance and support to specialised teams and service line colleagues in order to achieve the highest level of patient care and service delivery.
The Matron will ensure that nursing and relevant support workers within the paediatric department are led, managed, and developed so that they can provide the best possible patient care and service.
The Matron will be a highly visible, accessible, and authoritative figure in their field of responsibility.
The Matron will be available to patients, their families, and staff to offer assistance, advice, and support, as well as to handle problems and concerns as they arise.
The Matron will contribute to the strategic direction of the service and specialties by reaching important performance, national, and local activity targets.
The Matron is jointly accountable with the service manager(s) and service director(s) for efficiently and successfully managing patient flow, as well as for all elements of clinical governance under their purview.
The Matron will be required to function in a professional or managerial position as needed and appropriate.
