JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The position of expert Mechanical Engineering Technician within the Technical Development Group (TDG) provides mechanical engineering development and design support to departments within the Trust and Community, as well as assistance with research projects as needed.

The task is original, requiring research development as well as the use of a variety of materials and equipment.

Applications are complex and specialised, necessitating high precision and resulting in the creation and production of prototype devices that aid in a wide variety of patient care and improve the quality of life for a segment of the community.

Many various types of calibration apparatus and phantoms are manufactured for the installation and calibration of equipment in Oncology, Radiation Physics, CT, MRI, X-ray, and Nuclear Medicine.

The profession also entails designing and manufacturing aids and adjustments to help the disabled and carers preserve their freedom.
