Position: Senior Support Worker/ Senior Care Assistant.

Line Manager, Care Supervisor

 

Function of the position

 

  • To offer personal care and support to people in their own homes in accordance with agreed-upon care plans and Winserve rules, statutory requirements, and laws.

 

  • To provide nondiscriminatory care for service users while respecting their dignity, personality, cultural and social background, and independence.

 

  • Maintaining abilities at a certain level and undergoing the necessary training and development to stay current with best practices.

 

  • Provide junior personnel with on-the-job training and set a good example in terms of service delivery, record keeping, and service user relationship management.

 

  • To collaborate with other service employees and workers from other services in order to give an integrated approach to people’s health and care.

 

  • Work collaboratively with users’ family members and friends who are involved in their care and support.

 

  • To help build, maintain, and improve the working environment for the Winserve team.

 

Principal responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and assistance, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist service users with daily tasks such as meal preparation, shopping, and domestic chores.
  • Administer prescribed medications correctly and keep medication records.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with service users by actively listening to their issues, providing emotional support, and encouraging their emotional well-being and social involvement.
  • Implement behaviour management tactics to successfully promote positive behaviours and manage problematic behaviours.
  • Accompany people to appointments, outings, and social events to increase their community involvement.
  • Individuals’ health and well-being should be monitored, with any concerns reported to senior staff as soon as possible.
  • Collaborate with families, therapists, and healthcare experts to provide comprehensive treatment and support.
  • Assist people in building coping skills and methods for managing their mental health.
  • Work with mental health providers to implement care plans and interventions.
  • Document observations, progress, and any incidents according to established protocols.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions to improve your skills and expertise.
  • Monitor and report changes in people’s mental and emotional well-being to senior staff.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for those receiving help.
  • Assist the Registered Manager in organising and conducting in-house staff training, as well as developing training modules for use during training.
  • Read and produce reports, attend staff and service user meetings, and participate in training activities as directed.
  • Communicate with service user families about activities related to their loved one’s care, and report back to the Registered Manager.
  • Assist junior workers in mastering the usage of new technology vital to providing care.

The jobholder must:

  • Possess a complete UK drivers licence and a car.
  • Maintain flexibility in terms of availability, working hours, and adaptability.
  • have previous experience in care work in the UK.
  • Be based in Leeds, or prepared to relocate.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Senior Support Workers/Senior Care Assistants must have the following minimal qualifications:

 

  • Have at least one year of care experience in the UK.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Must have completed a care certificate at the minimum or higher
  • Fluency in English or an ILETS minimum score of 6, with no individual score less than 5.5.
  • Must have a valid UK manual driving licence.
  • Must be prepared and willing to complete the needed training courses.
