JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Gloucestershire Region.
Pay rate is £23.59, with an enhanced weekend rate.
Hours of employment are 07:45-20:15 – 37.5 hours per week rostered – full flexibility of days required.
We are searching for a Peripatetic Nurse to work across care homes in the Gloucestershire Region. This role will provide you with the opportunity and experience to advance your skills, as you may be the only nurse on the shift and will be responsible for leading and managing the care team to ensure that high standards of nursing and personal care are met, as well as providing clinical leadership and guidance as needed. You will deliver, monitor, and re-evaluate care needs in collaboration with each resident, their main carers, family members, and the home’s overall team, as well as efficiently communicating with GPs, hospitals, and external organisations.
The work is extremely gratifying, and you will be presented with a variety of clinical situations to help you build your talents and pursue your professional goals, all in a supportive, engaging, and rewarding atmosphere. Our care teams make a significant difference every day, and your professionalism, warmth, and compassion will be central to everything you do.
About OSJCT and Our Gloucestershire Region:
We are a not-for-profit charity Trust where people enjoy living and working! OSJCT is one of the UK’s premier not-for-profit care organisations, dedicated only to providing high-quality care to older people. We have 14 Care Homes in Gloucestershire that provide personalised nursing care; each facility is located in a different area, but they all share the same ideals of dedication to care.
About You:
You will be a qualified Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse who is currently registered with the NMC. You will have post-registration experience, be able to demonstrate continued professional development activities, and be comfortable working independently. You will have a clear awareness of regulatory frameworks, as well as experience or willingness to train in:
- Medication Administration
- Catheterisation
- End-of-Life Care
- Verification of Death
- Syringe Drivers
- Gastrostomy Care
- Venepuncture
- Diabetic Awareness
- Tissue viability
- Epilepsy Awareness
- Management of deterioration: sepsis awareness.
You will be a positive role model, with strong communication skills and an innate ability to foster positive workplace relationships. As a helpful leader, you will inspire your team to consistently provide the greatest care to our residents. You will be able to work across several sites, filling shifts that are vacant, on leave, or unwell. You will help and mentor new nurses during their induction as well as provide general support to existing nurses. Working across numerous sites requires you to be a driver with your own car. Also, due to the nature of the employment, flexibility to work any five out of seven days of the week is required.
What you’ll receive in return:
The rewards for our nurses are excellent. Our roles provide greater flexibility in working hours, more autonomy in decision making, and the ability to develop deep relationships with the residents in your care through consultative, case-management responsibilities.
The Trust is a fantastic place to work; we’ve been providing care for nearly 1,000 years and are today the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. We are not-for-profit, which means we reinvest every penny we make in our residents, colleagues, and the care homes where we live and work. As a result, we provide a wide range of advantages, such as a competitive pay and opportunities for growth.
As a valued member of our team, you will also enjoy the following benefits:
- 30 days holiday (including bank holidays)
- Weekend wages are higher.
- Fully funded renewal of your NMC PIN.
- Payment of the Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship application cost for qualified nurses
- A company pension
