  • Permanent, full-time, 37 hours each week.

Lancashire County Council seeks an enthusiastic Electrical Building Services Design Engineer with strong project management skills and experience in electrical design for building services. This position will be part of the Mechanical & Electrical Team within the Asset Management Building Design Team.

Our Asset Management Service is a diverse and professional team that delivers a comprehensive capital programme for the county council’s property and highway assets, such as schools, libraries, museums, and offices. Our Building Design team comprises Architects and Architectural Technicians, Structural Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and Building Services Engineers. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer for a design and specification function.


We are looking for…

Creative and ambitious. Experienced Electrical Design Engineer focused on building services. As a creative thinker, you’ll contribute to team performance by managing building projects from conception to completion. You will provide designs for many elements, including LV distribution, EV charging, power generation, small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, nurse call systems, lightning protection, and controls, in line with current guidelines and laws.You will assist the Electrical Project Manager in leading or supporting various projects. Your expert expertise will help to the administration of project finances, health and safety, surveys, and more. You’ll be confident and self-assured, with the ability to engage with a range of technical specialists and partners, and your aggressive yet diplomatic attitude will ensure that projects are delivered on time, safely, and professionally.

You will be a specialist in electrical design for building services and passionate about sustainability and carbon reduction measures. Your innovative approach will contribute to the decarbonisation of Lancashire’s infrastructure with projects such as replacing ageing heating systems with air-to-water heat pumps and installing solar panels. Our goal by 2030 is to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and achieve further climate change.

The ideal candidate will excel at electrical design for building services and be able to challenge external partners and multidisciplinary teams. They will also be confident in challenging processes and procedures to ensure legislative and strategic requirements are met. They will be calm under pressure, purposeful in their approach, and tactful when overcoming challenges.
