Job Summary
CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. This full-time position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment, allowing you to work both in the office and remotely from home. As a key member of the billing operations team, you will manage complex client billing processes, provide guidance to junior staff, and ensure accuracy in contract administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, analyze, and distribute client billings for high-priority or complex contracts.
- Provide support and training to less experienced staff on billing procedures.
- Perform contract administration duties such as project setup, funding modifications, task maintenance, and project closeout.
- Prepare and verify client invoices, ensuring contract terms are met, invoice packages are collated, and proper documentation is retained.
- Participate in the review and resolution of client billing issues, offering recommendations for improvement.
- Define and implement procedures to enhance the effectiveness of the company’s billing functions.
- Conduct moderately complex client billing analyses and assist in resolving billing cases.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in billing or a related field.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed (contingent on job requirements).
- U.S. Citizenship is required, and the candidate must be able to obtain a FEMA Badge for Public Trust positions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a billing/accounting role within the engineering consulting (AEC) industry.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Adobe Pro.
- Experience with large ERP systems, especially Oracle, for billing purposes.
- Familiarity with billing for federal projects is a plus.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Thorough understanding of general accounting principles, billing processes, and receivables management.
- Must be detail-oriented and capable of handling complex billing scenarios.
