JOB DESCRIPTION
Ford Model E is in charge of developing critical technologies and capabilities, such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging, and recycling, to create ground-breaking electric vehicles. Joining the top software, engineering, design, and UX expertise will allow you to contribute to the development of new technologies and concepts that may be used throughout the Ford company. The Senior Manager, Power Electronics will be in charge of idea generation, vehicle level architecture, design selection, and optimisation work. You will design and iterate on powertrain inverter components at numerous stages of development, beginning with the block diagram architecture phase. You will conceptualise, design, engineer, develop, and support the introduction of next-generation powertrains and inverters for electric vehicles.
The minimum requirements we seek are:
Electrical engineering or physics degree
Strong understanding of power electronics and control fundamentals.
Experience designing and optimising motor inverters, chargers, DCDCs, or equivalent mass.

7+ years of expertise designing, developing, and launching products
5+ years of expertise with finite element approaches for performance, durability, cost, and noise and vibration.
Power electronic componentsPreferred requirements:
Experience with coding optimisation methods, especially in Matlab.
Strong power electronics background, particularly in motor driving applications, DCDC, and/or
chargers
Experience with electric drive and motor control concepts for permanent magnet AC devices.
Understanding of fault-tolerant machine topologies and optimising inverters for sensorless
control
High level of experience and proficiency using Catia, Enovia, or comparable tools such as drawing and
Modelling approaches and methodologies
Hands-on expertise building and launching automotive products and prototyping powertrains.

Experience using Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira apps.
Experience with instrumentation and testing of powertrain systems in a lab setting

What You’ll Be Able To Do:
The activities will include:
Write optimisation algorithms and analytical calculations to analyse and optimise various power electronic components and technologies, as well as vehicle level qualities.
Cost optimisation from design to manufacture.
Create a strong design for automotive applications and mass manufacturing.
Optimising inverter chips for longevity, efficiency, and performance
Create block diagrams and 3D topologies for HV distribution, HV auxiliary, inverters, and chargers.
DCDCs, etc.
Create requirements and connected analytical models for different electronic systems.
Identify and track important system decisions that determine technology roadmaps and product
architecture. Collaborate with programme systems teams to make architecture trades for range
