Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, working 24.66 hours per week. The current working hours are Monday to Friday, day shifts from 07:00 to 20:00, with no weekend, Bank Holiday, or night shifts.

The position will be based on D Ward/Orthopaedic Admissions Unit at Wrightington Hospital. These areas are dedicated to the admission and care of patients undergoing lower limb orthopaedic surgery, including day cases.

To be considered for this role, candidates must hold a valid NMC registration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the admission process for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery.
  • Provide high-quality pre and post-operative care to orthopaedic patients.
  • Support nurse-led discharge for day cases.
  • Administer medication and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

On-Call Information:

Please note that senior roles (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota if the position is primarily operational.

  • Apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice, including infection control, health and safety, and ethical and legal considerations.
  • Adapt to the changing needs of the department and its specialties.
  • Recognize and apply transferable skills to provide excellent patient care.
  • Uphold professional standards in all aspects of patient care delivery.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the department in the absence of the Ward Manager or Deputy Ward Manager.
  • Assess patients and make appropriate decisions regarding their care.
  • Manage time effectively, including the supervision of junior staff and learners.
