Job Description

Staff Nurse – Roskear Ward

We are a dynamic 30-bed Cardiology and Respiratory ward, dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with cardiology and respiratory conditions.

As a skilled member of our nursing team, you will:

Deliver high standards of compassionate, patient-centered care.

Communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Coordinate care with the team to ensure planned treatments are carried out and updates on patient condition are communicated.

Ensure productivity and cost-efficiency in delivering patient-centered care.

Prioritize patient safety during your shift.

Contribute actively to the education and training of learners, junior staff, and students.

Provide evidence-based, research-informed nursing care by planning, assessing, implementing, and evaluating care plans.

Supervise and support the ward team to ensure every patient receives appropriate care.

Create a compassionate, safe environment for patients, acting as their advocate and providing information and support to patients, families, and carers, as well as directing them to relevant services.

Plan effective discharges from admission.

Continuously develop and maintain the clinical skills and knowledge required to provide evidence-based, research-informed care, including taking on expanded roles through competency-based training.

Administer medications in line with Trust policies competently and safely.

Utilize electronic patient systems as necessary.

Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.

Uphold ward and Trust policies and professional standards, promoting them to other team members.

Safeguard the confidentiality of patient, staff, and business information.

Recognize and address your own learning and development needs to maintain high-quality care.
