Job Description
Exciting Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Oncology and Haematology Day Treatment Unit
Location: The Queens Centre, Castle Hill Hospital (CHH)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 am – 6 pm
The Oncology and Haematology Day Treatment Unit at the Queens Centre offers a comprehensive service for patients with both malignant and non-malignant oncological and haematological conditions. We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our team in delivering a wide range of treatments and investigations, including chemotherapy.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care throughout your shift. This is a dedicated service that provides cutting-edge care to our patients using advanced facilities, including medical consultations, radiotherapy treatment, and a large day unit for intravenous therapy. Our team is committed to providing specialist care in a supportive, well-equipped environment.
Main Duties of the Role
The post holder will develop skills in cannulation, CVAD (Central Venous Access Devices) management, and chemotherapy administration. Full training and support will be provided.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are essential, as patient care is delivered across both ward and clinic settings.
The role requires a commitment to continuing professional development, including working towards a post-basic qualification in a relevant field and completing the SACT UKONS Passport (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy).
A four-week supernumerary period with a full mentorship package will be provided to ensure you receive the training and support you need to succeed.
As you progress in the role, you will be expected to train and supervise others, so a teaching or mentoring qualification is desirable.
