Senior Nurse – Elective Surgical Day-Case / 23 Hour Stay – Ward 15

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to manage our elective surgical day-case/23-hour stay ward, Ward 15, at Solihull.
As the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for providing leadership, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and supporting your team in delivering high standards of care. You will need to be adaptable, professional, and confident in managing a varied workload, while mentoring and developing a newly established team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in a fast-paced environment.
Act as a clinical leader, managing staff and ensuring patient care meets the highest standards.
Lead by example in motivating and empowering your team to provide consistent, excellent care.
Use critical thinking and decision-making skills to facilitate and implement changes that improve practice standards.
Oversee clinical audits, ensuring that all relevant documentation and audits are completed accurately and promptly.
Drive change within the ward by integrating evidence-based practices, policies, and procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
An experienced Registered Nurse with at least 2 years at Band 6 level.
Proven leadership skills with experience in managing staff and leading clinical teams.
Ability to inspire and motivate your team while ensuring the delivery of high standards of care.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Experience with staff change management and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Familiarity with the NMC standards for student supervision and assessment, with experience in mentoring.
Desirable:
Healthcare management or leadership qualification.

Qualifications:
Essential: Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register.
Desirable: Healthcare management/leadership qualification.
Experience:
Substantial clinical experience in a complex healthcare or acute NHS setting, including the supervision and education of junior staff.
Experience in staff management, including budget and resource management.
Evidence of leadership and successful multi-professional working.
Experience in interviewing and selecting staff, and in implementing changes based on feedback and incidents.
Strong understanding of NHS policies, clinical governance, and audit processes.
Additional Criteria:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong IT skills with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.
Positive, enthusiastic, flexible, and approachable attitude.
Able to work under pressure and handle competing priorities effectively.
