Summary
To assist the Business Leader in delivering day-to-day leadership to Cell Leaders and hourly shopfloor employees within a specific area or business segment, maximising the development of a team culture and increasing employee engagement.
Responsible for EHS, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Productivity in the production area.
Responsible for increasing internal and external customer satisfaction and building great customer relationships through timely delivery of high-quality products.
Responsible for delivering continuous improvement activities and programmes to fulfil operational objectives.
Responsible for developing and sustaining strong employee engagement in the manufacturing sector.
Responsible for leading SQDC’s improvement initiatives in the production area.
Assist Business Leader in expanding and increasing the production area.
As needed, act in place of the Business Leader.
Job Description.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide area leadership and collaborate with support areas (Lean, Quality, Planning, EHS, HR, etc.) to define KPIs and meet goals in terms of EHS, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Productivity.
- Serve as a people leader for cell leaders in the production area.
- Responsible for managing day-to-day capacity planning in the business area and coordinating with the Planning team to monitor and make necessary modifications to the area capacity plan.
- Implement cutting-edge technologies and techniques to improve product/process predictability and meet quality criteria.
- Champion Lean Six Sigma processes in the region and support continuous improvement and the Lean Vision, which are aligned with the value stream goals. Support Action Workouts and use Lean Six Sigma technologies to enhance processes and productivity.
- Responsible for monitoring production targets such as TAT, productivity, and labour hours, and generating metrics to fit with them.
- In collaboration with the Business Leader, choose, hire, train, develop, and give continuing leadership and direction to assigned staff (Cell Leaders and hourly employees) while driving employee engagement.
- Leadership and support for the Quality approval cycle in accordance with area of responsibility.
- Promote labour flexibility throughout the area.
- Maintain a culture of compliance and honesty, and promote the GE Beliefs throughout teams.
- Interact with other organisations and key stakeholders to ensure production needs are satisfied.
- Ensure that significant business/customer issues are communicated to staff, and encourage two-way communication.
- Assist the Business Leader in the strategic development and planning of labour, equipment, and other resources to fulfil business needs.
- Deputise for the Business Leader and cover the Cell Leader function as needed.
Qualifications/Responsibilities
- A bachelor’s degree from an approved institution or college, or comparable knowledge and experience in industrial operations.
- At least three years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, including process improvement tools, productivity tools, and Lean issue solving tools.
- Experience managing and teaching high-performing teams, driving team engagement and individual development.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills.
- Ability to deal with pressure
- Ability to challenge the existing quo.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge of manufacturing management disciplines such as production, inventory control, and standard cost systems.
- Prior experience with regulatory agencies and understanding of needs
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organising skills.
- Understanding of GE goods, operations, customer needs, and budgeting/financial procedures
- Ability to be self-motivated and take the initiative to solve difficulties
- Six Sigma training is preferred (ge workers only).
- Capability to manage many priorities within tight timelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and correctness.
- Ability to complete assignments successfully.
- Ability to foresee and meet client needs
