We have an excellent opportunity for a senior research communications officer to join the University of Reading’s Marketing Communication and Engagement function.

About the role
The Research Communications & Engagement team is part of the Marketing, Communication & Engagement function (MCE), which offers expert marketing, engagement, and communication strategy, guidance, and delivery. We use a matrix management strategy to strengthen the University’s reputation, brand, and profile, as well as to produce robust, innovative, and worldwide communications activity that supports research engagement, impact, and financing aims.
We are looking for an experienced senior research communications officer to join MCE’s Research Communications and Engagement team.
You will plan, develop, and implement communications campaigns to improve the University’s profile and reputation for research excellence on a national and international scale, using both University and external channels. You will create activities and content that highlight the University’s research capabilities, successes, and impact. You will be in charge of the University website’s research area, as well as research information throughout the site and in University publications. You will also provide day-to-day professional assistance to researchers to help them build best practices for sharing their results.
About You
You will be highly motivated, full of energy, excitement, and a strong desire to communicate research findings. You will have project management experience and a track record of producing high-quality, innovative communications outputs and activities for a wide range of audiences. You will be accustomed to working alone in a fast-paced atmosphere and will be able to identify and respond to possibilities rapidly.
You will have excellent written and vocal communication abilities, as well as familiarity with all types of communication channels. You will be creative, having prior experience creating a profile, reputation, and brand. You will be able to establish and maintain strong networks of internal and external contacts while working across academic disciplines and with persons of various levels of seniority. You will be resourceful and devoted to maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
