About your new role.
Our nationwide Commercial team serves a diverse spectrum of clients, both private and public.
We offer a complete range of commercial services, including:
Commercial contracts
Technology Data Protection Intellectual Property
Competition, Energy Work, and Public Projects
We advise on a wide range of contracts, from day-to-day commercial ties to large projects.
Our clients come from a variety of industries, including technology, media, retail, pharmaceuticals, insurance, transport and logistics, manufacturing, and the public sector, where we work for universities, NHS bodies, police forces, and local governments.
Our offices in Liverpool, London, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, and Glasgow provide nationwide coverage for the club.
Weightmans has a hybrid work policy, with at least two days each week spent in the office.
Our national Commercial team has a strong presence in the field of primary care.
We are searching for a solicitor who has expertise working with primary care providers, particularly general practitioners.
This position will include
- Preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of partnership agreements for medical and dental practitioners
- Offering general partnership counsel.
- Working on partnership mergers.
- Advice and documents for voluntary and obligatory partnership retirements.
- NHS Contract Advice
- Advise primary care networks.

Key Duties
Your new role will include the following crucial aspects:
- Work on matters related to the services listed above.
- Collaborate with Partners and other senior members of the larger primary care team on challenging issues.
- Work on your own concerns as appropriate.
- Drafting, evaluating, advising on, and negotiating contracts of the types indicated above.
- Build internal relationships as a starting point.
- Assist with business growth initiatives.
- Work according to Weightmans’ values and methods.
- Manage concerns in accordance with the client service level agreements.
- Meet financial and billable time targets.
- Comply with Weightman’s policies and procedures.
- Complete client management information as needed.

About You
Experience working on commercial contracts at the 3 to 5+ PQE level.
We are searching for someone with the following skills:
- Experience with primary care
- Understanding of NHS primary care service contracts.
- Understanding of NHS Primary Care Funding
- Willingness to study new areas, such as technology, data, and public procurement;
- Communication and listening skills.
- Excellent drafting abilities and attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness
- Conscientious, self-motivated, hardworking, and responsive.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills, as well as critical thinking ability.
- Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and capacity to support junior team members
- Ability to operate under tight timeframes and client guidelines while keeping high standards.
