Harper Adams University is looking to hire Plumbing Trades to perform reactive and planned estates maintenance on the University’s plumbing systems.
The appointed professionals shall be credible, talented craftspeople with extensive technical knowledge and expertise in their fields. The Mechanical & Plumbing team will have the opportunity to work on a diverse estate that has seen ongoing investment in building services infrastructure, such as on-site electricity generation using a CHP and extensive PVs, on-site water abstraction and treatment, an energy centre with a biomass boiler, and a canine hydrotherapy pool. With substantial workshops and a diverse range of equipment, the post holders will collaborate with skilled tradespeople to provide mechanical and plumbing maintenance services on a campus that has witnessed ongoing investment in both existing buildings through restoration and new construction.
The position will be based at the campus in picturesque countryside near the Shropshire market town of Newport. The University estate covers 143 hectares and includes around 30,000 square metres of non-residential structures, as well as approximately 800 beds in student halls (17,700 square metres). Work will be diversified thanks to a variety of modern teaching and research facilities, some stunning historic buildings, student amenities and sports facilities, and some cutting-edge engineering facilities. The campus is surrounded by the university’s 600-hectare farm, although it is only a 15-minute drive from Telford, 30 minutes from Shrewsbury or Stafford, and 40 minutes from Stoke on Trent or Wolverhampton. The University is searching for dedicated individuals who work well in groups, take pride in their work, and love the challenge of providing maintenance and small works services on a large and diverse estate.
