The role
Are you an engineer who is passionate about issue solving, project delivery, and long-term, environmentally beneficial projects? If so, you could be a great fit for United Utilities’ Capital Delivery project teams. We are searching for Project Engineers that can provide engineering input and help us accomplish our ambitious ambitions in North West England, UK.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering engineering solutions and advise for a variety of projects under our Capital Delivery programme. You will work at the Engineering Manager level, interacting with delivery teams and Project Managers throughout the project portfolio to build knowledge of the company, our significant contracts, and our largest industry partners. You will use your skills to handle engineering difficulties unique to our sector, and by collaborating with other specialists, you will impact key areas of our capital plan, contributing significantly to our success and assisting us in achieving our objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- As a crucial member of our team, you will be able to collaborate closely with Project Managers, Delivery Managers, Senior Project Engineers, and stakeholders. You will apply your insights and subject matter expertise (SME) to ensure the successful implementation of all engineering components within your areas of responsibility. You will be enthusiastic about engineering and keen to share your expertise and abilities with others.
- As a Project Engineer, you may help build our future by solving complex challenges and making a meaningful effect on our projects and communities. You will help us improve our engineering processes and procedures by adopting new ways of working and providing feedback and ideas. We appreciate your contribution and want you to be a part of our continual improvement journey.
- You will create and manage relationships with important internal and external stakeholders, Senior Project Engineers, and Delivery Managers, maintaining proactive empathetic long-term relationships and building a healthy, inclusive, and diverse environment for our teams to thrive.
- As an engineering UU champion, you will represent engineering inputs to the delivery team. You will identify and pursue opportunities to improve our performance while disclosing and escalating any risks or issues outside your control, keeping the relevant stakeholders informed and participating. You will be passionate, proactive, and collaborative in your work, pushing for quality and innovation in all that you do.
- Examine the progress and quality of our deliverables, and propose or execute any modifications that will improve our performance. Keep track of our project budgets to ensure we are spending wisely and efficiently. When presenting our business cases to the corporate governance group, participate to the composition and presentation of our ideas with confidence and enthusiasm.
Skills and experience.
To be successful with your application, you must demonstrate that you match the following criteria:
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC or above) or comparable skills, knowledge, and experience
- Experience giving technical advice and overseeing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
