Summary:

 

A famous investment firm situated in London is looking for a tax specialist to join the Operations Department as it embarks on interesting projects around Europe.

 

 

Objectives of the Role:

To assist the tax manager in providing quality and timely tax advisory services in relation to direct investments (during the acquisition, asset management, and disposal phase of the investment cycle), to coordinate strategic tax initiatives for all investments across Europe, and to comply with the group tax policy and maintain an acceptable level of tax risk in collaboration with the Legal, Investment, and Operations team. Apart from M&A-related tax work, this function is heavily focused on tax compliance work across multiple jurisdictions.

 

 

 

What You’ll Do Every Day:

 

  • Assist the tax manager in providing tax advice and taking the lead on M&A projects.

 

  • Assist the tax manager in managing communication and any disputes with the relevant tax authority in collaboration with outside counsel.

 

  • Assist the tax manager in managing and coordinating timely tax advice for inquiries from other teams.

 

  • When necessary, assist the tax manager in liaising and communicating with relevant tax authorities or external tax experts.

 

  • Assist the tax manager in evaluating tax risks, balancing risk with business objectives, and making objective, practical, and technically suitable recommendations in support of business objectives.

 

  • Assist the tax manager in drafting the requisite tax report and communicating with headquarters as needed.

 

  • On a daily basis, manage the SPV’s tax compliance issues, ensuring that tax filing and compliance are satisfied and in good order.

 

  • Assist the tax manager with additional general tax-related tasks as needed.

 

 

The Competencies You’ll Need to Succeed:

 

  • Excellent Mandarin and English speaking and writing abilities

 

  • Accounting expertise in a UK accounting company, law firm, or industry

 

  • Have a certificate in certified accounting

 

  • Adequate knowledge and expertise in international tax law, as well as EU directives and case law

 

  • Transfer Pricing knowledge and practical experience are required.

 

  • Adequate knowledge and expertise with corporate tax issues

 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

 

  • Inter-personal/communication abilities that are both written and verbal are required.

 

  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude and approach, as well as good teamwork/collaboration skills

 

  • Willingness to take on responsibility and work in a “hands on” environment

 

  • Confident and expressive team player with a high level of initiative and lateral thinking abilities.
