JOB DESCRIPTION
Cpl UK Healthcare (formerly RIG Locums) is looking for a Clinical Haematology Staff Grade doctor in Plymouth for a 12-month permanent position.
This position requires registrar-equivalent coverage in Clinical Haematology across the ward, day unit, and outpatient settings. The position holder will be required to operate as an important part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering direct clinical treatment.
The main duties of the job are:
The doctor’s previous experience will determine his or her level of responsibility. Typical duties might include:
Attending consultant ward rounds and MDT meetings.
Ward duties includes ward rounds, leading a team of younger doctors, admitting patients directly, referring patients to other departments as needed, organising TTAs and discharge reports, and reviewing haematology outliers on other wards.
Day unit duties includes assessing chemotherapy patients prior to treatment, managing chronic transfusion patients, aiding nursing personnel with triage calls, and assessing acutely ill haematology patients.
Bone marrow biopsies and intrathecal chemotherapy delivery are among the procedures included on the list.
Outpatient clinic work covering the entire spectrum of haematology subspecialties.
Working on call as a member of the ‘first on call’ haematology middle-grade tier.
The postholder will be assigned a clinical/educational supervisor, and the experience obtained can be used to support individual development needs and goals.The selected candidate will benefit from the outstanding professional development prospects that a specialist Haematology Department like ours can provide, while also enjoying the vibrant lifestyle of Plymouth.

Essential
Solid understanding of basic clinical sciences and the capacity to apply knowledge to clinical practice
Capable of effectively managing time and prioritising clinical needs.
Be aware of your own limitations and know when to consult senior colleagues.
Understand the importance of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
At least 24 months of experience in internal medicine, an ACCS curriculum, or equivalent (excluding Foundation modules).
Minimum 18 months of experience working in the NHS.
Experience working as a haematology registrar, including safe chemotherapy prescriptions.
Expertise in techniques like bone marrow biopsy and intrathecal chemotherapy
