Gloucestershire County Council is looking for passionate and committed Social Workers to join our Gloucester Locality Team. Based in the centre of Gloucester with easy links to the M5, our service combines office, community, and home-based working, with free parking available when you’re on-site.
Whether you’re already working locally or planning a move to the South West, we’d love to hear from you. Qualified Social Workers relocating from within the UK may also be eligible for a relocation package of up to £8,000 (subject to conditions).
If you are already living and working in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa, have at least one year’s experience in an Adults Social Work role, and hold current Social Work England registration, you may also be able to transfer your Certificate of Sponsorship when joining us. What the Role Involves
Our vision is simple: to help adults in Gloucestershire live fulfilling, independent, and empowered lives. We want the people we support to have genuine choice and control over their care, and access to services that use resources creatively and responsibly.
As part of our Locality Team, you will:
- Work directly with adults and their families to promote independence and wellbeing
- Build strong, trusting relationships with community partners, health services, and voluntary organisations
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred social work practice
- Contribute to assessments, support plans, safeguarding work, and risk management
- Bring professional curiosity, compassion, and creativity to every interaction
You will be joining a service that values learning, innovation, and teamwork. We are proud of our positive culture and are committed to supporting Social Workers to thrive—professionally and personally.
