The University of Portsmouth is an aspirational organization with a successful history. Among the top 150 of the Times Higher Young University Global Rankings and one of only four institutions in the south east of England to receive a Gold rating for teaching excellence.

The National Student Survey results, our graduates’ outstanding record of employability, and the outcomes of the most recent Research Excellence Framework submission all attest to the School of Mechanical and Design Engineering’s track record of ongoing success in teaching and research. We provide a comprehensive selection of degree programs in engineering management, product design, and mechanical and manufacturing engineering.

To teach and enhance the curriculum in the fields of industrial design engineering, particularly computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing, as well as other core subject areas, the School is looking to appoint a motivated and committed individual to a lecturer job.

This is a fascinating role that reflects our desire to offer the best engineering education. Applicants with experience teaching these subjects, working in industry, or conducting research and generating cash in a field that complements our current endeavors are of great interest to us. The successful candidate for the position will be a strong team player who can inspire pupils about their area of specialization and support the school’s academic responsibilities.

The School recognizes that women are underrepresented in STEMM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine) in higher education and is committed to promoting equity and diversity. We adhere to the Athena SWAN charter for advancing women’s careers and support gender equality (and men, where they are underrepresented). Applications from women are especially encouraged for this position. All hiring decisions will be based on merit.

The University of Portsmouth thinks that this position might qualify for sponsorship by UKVI under the visa category for skilled workers. Before applying for this position, please familiarize yourself with the specifications. When applying for this position, you will need to clarify the specifics of an alternative visa to work in the UK if you are unable to meet the conditions for sponsorship.

We are steadfastly committed to integrating equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into our neighborhood. As holders of the Athena SWAN and Racial Equality Charter awards, members of Stonewall, and a Disability Confident Employer, we are committed to fostering an atmosphere that is friendly and inclusive of all people. We encourage all talented individuals to apply. In addition, we want our employees to reflect the diversity of our student body. Please review the goals and EDI Framework.
