Applications are requested for the above-mentioned technical support position.

The role holder will provide technical support for an Innovate UK research aimed at determining the nutritional composition of insects (mostly house crickets) and their feed, with samples given by industry partner Oko Protein Ltd. The investigation will involve freeze-drying, milling/grinding, and proximate nutrient analysis to evaluate the protein, lipid, energy, amino acid, and fatty acid content of both the insects and their meal. The role holder may also be asked to assist with the in vitro digestion laboratory.

The post holder will be responsible for providing timely and high-quality technical support within Biosciences in the Faculty of Science. They will mostly work in the analytical laboratories of the North Laboratory Building on the Sutton Bonington Campus, assisting other technical staff with basic housekeeping and sample analysis.

Candidates must have at least two A Levels in science-related topics or comparable vocational credentials (NVQ, City & Guild), or significant work experience in a relevant technical/scientific job.

They should have knowledge and experience working in a research laboratory, preferably with a focus on digestion and nutrient availability, as well as sustainable nutrition. A GCSE (or equivalent) in science-related subjects is preferred.

This is a full-time post with a set term of 9 months (36.25 hours per week). Job-sharing options may be considered.
