Are you a dedicated Paramedic seeking a new opportunity? Join our Rapid Response Team at South Petherton Community Hospital, providing urgent care across Somerset’s urban and rural areas. We offer flexible shifts and part-time hours to support a healthy work-life balance, with shifts available from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, seven days a week, including Bank Holidays. If you have a UK driving license and your own vehicle, we provide a generous mileage allowance.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
As a Community Paramedic in the Rapid Response Team, you’ll work as an autonomous practitioner, using your clinical expertise and decision-making skills to provide urgent care interventions to patients in their homes. This vital service helps reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and supports patients to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide urgent clinical care, therapy, or support to patients at home.
- Make independent clinical decisions based on your knowledge and experience.
- Oversee shift management and provide clinical support to multidisciplinary teams, including Nurses, Therapists, Healthcare Assistants, and Students.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and agencies to manage patient caseloads and ensure safe discharges or transfers.
- Deliver care within the Urgent Community Response (UCR) framework, adhering to the two-hour response time for referrals.
- Help with the management and coordination of patient care, working closely with GPs, social care, community teams, and hospitals.
- Contribute to the delivery of NHS strategic priorities and the reduction of avoidable hospital admissions.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Essential:
- HCPC Registered Paramedic
- A minimum of two years experience as a qualified Paramedic
- A UK Driving License and access to a car
- Desirable:
- Experience working with community services
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
