Job Summary

Job Title: U9-14s Therapist
Department: Performance & Medical
Reports To: Head of Academy Performance Services
Location: Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground, Compton Park
Hours: Minimum of 37.5 hours/week (flexibility required, including evenings, weekends, and special events)


Key Responsibilities

  1. Medical Provision:
    • Lead therapy services for pre-academy to U14 players.
    • Provide injury assessment, treatment, and prevention strategies.
  2. Match & Training Support:
    • Ensure medical readiness for matches, tours, and training sessions.
    • Attend games and clinics as per EPPP requirements.
  3. Injury Management & Rehabilitation:
    • Oversee clinical audits and maintain accurate documentation.
    • Implement musculoskeletal screening and profiling.
  4. Collaboration:
    • Liaise with coaching staff, MDT members, and the Academy Sport Science team.
    • Attend multidisciplinary meetings and support in-service training.
  5. Safeguarding:
    • Ensure player welfare and comply with safeguarding policies.

Scope of the Role

  • Deliver medical support for Academy schoolboys, including preventative rehabilitation.
  • Ensure compliance with the EPPP and governing body standards.
  • Regularly review medical equipment and procedures.

Person Specification

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Expertise in injury diagnosis and rehabilitation for young athletes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with IT systems; experience with Kitman Labs is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • BSc in Physiotherapy/Sports Therapy.
    • FA ATMMIF qualification.
    • Full UK driving license.
    • Subject to DBS clearance.
  • Desirable:
    • Membership in CSP/HCPC or BASRAT.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a football academy or professional sport.
  • Knowledge of the EPPP framework.
  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills and a proactive attitude toward service development.
