The Opportunity
The University’s Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention (CPSP) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Agriculture and Regulatory Advisor with specialized knowledge in pesticide management within the agricultural sector. This role is integral to our global health and pesticide regulation efforts, focusing on reducing the use of highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) linked to pesticide self-harm in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
As a key member of the CPSP team, you will lead initiatives to influence national pesticide regulations and contribute to policy development in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), other UN agencies, and regional regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in pesticide management with the ability to work independently and take on significant responsibilities.
Contract Details
- Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
- Salary: £40,497 to £48,149 per annum (starting May 2025)
- Working Arrangements: Hybrid working arrangements are available, combining remote and on-campus work (non-contractual).
Your Skills and Attributes for Success
- Education: Higher degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant field.
- Experience:
- Broad professional experience in pesticide management or a similar role.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects independently (desirable).
- Expertise in agricultural pest and pesticide management.
- Experience working in low-income regions and with international organizations.
- Communication:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to draft policy and technical reports effectively.
