Job Description

Team Leader – HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS)

Proud to serve. Proud to deliver justice.

Our Team Leaders play a vital role in ensuring justice services run smoothly. This position will give you the chance to strengthen your leadership skills while supporting colleagues, the judiciary, and service users. About Us

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is part of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil, and family courts and tribunals across England and Wales. Every role at HMCTS helps people and businesses access justice, often at critical moments in their lives.

If you’re committed to public service and want to make a real difference in people’s lives, we encourage you to apply.

As a Team Leader, you will:

  • Lead and motivate your team, ensuring work is well-prioritised, organised, and delivered to a high standard.
  • Monitor performance, analyse trends, and recommend improvements to support continuous development.
  • Act as line manager for the Front of House (FOH) team across Plymouth Combined and Plymouth Magistrates Court, and oversee the Ops Support team in Plymouth and Torquay.
  • Support operational delivery, IT and estates management, while supervising Building Champions and DSOs.
  • Provide accurate data and performance reporting to managers and judiciary.
  • Contribute to implementing new policies, legislation, and initiatives effectively.

This is a challenging and rewarding position that will place you at the centre of HMCTS operations. We will also support your development through our HMCTS Leadership Offer, which includes training programmes, resources, and coaching.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven ability to motivate, lead, and support a team.
  • Experience working in an administrative, customer-focused environment.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
  • Proficiency with IT systems and adaptability to new software packages.
