Role Overview:
As a Principal RF Engineer at ETL Systems, you will play a key role in the design, development, and optimisation of advanced RF systems that integrate optical and amplifier technologies. You’ll lead project initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions.
This role focuses on hands-on RF design at the discrete component level. You’ll be responsible for creating both active and passive circuits across a wide frequency range, from DC to Ka-band and beyond. Your tasks will include developing design concepts, running simulations, defining specifications, and performing extensive laboratory work for development and tuning. You’ll oversee products throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of RF circuits to meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, testability, cost, and timelines. This includes RF over Fibre products.
Conduct RF analysis and simulations to ensure designs meet performance specifications (e.g., gain, linearity, VSWR, NF, spurious), including evaluating the impact of optical parameters on system performance.
Take the lead in high-power RF system design, including integration of TWTA, and share knowledge with the RF team (prior experience not required).
Collaborate with engineers across disciplines (PCB, Mechanical, Electronics, Software, NPI) to ensure the success of the final product.
Perform design verification through extensive lab testing using equipment such as VNAs, Spectrum Analysers, Phase Noise Analysers, RF Power Sensors, and Signal Generators, up to 67GHz.
Provide technical support to pre-sales engineers and NPI, production, and test teams as required.
Contribute to the development of RF/Microwave knowledge, processes, and techniques within the company.
