Job Title: Registered Nurse – Imaging Department (UK NMC Registration Required)

Location: Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton


Job Overview:

The Royal Sussex County Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Imaging Department in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a hospital with an outstanding reputation for care and innovation. Candidates must already hold UK NMC registration, as the role does not currently offer direct hiring for internationally qualified nurses without UK registration. The successful candidate will provide professional and high-quality patient care across multiple imaging modalities, including CT, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, and Fluoroscopy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Deliver direct, compassionate care to patients while adhering to the department’s philosophy and objectives.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced imaging environment.
  • Imaging Support: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of patients undergoing imaging procedures, including administering sedation, monitoring vital signs, and documenting patient care.
  • Emergency Situations: Participate in emergency medical situations when required, in the absence of medical support.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure the safe use of imaging equipment and maintain stock control within the department.
  • Family Support: Liaise with and provide support to the families of patients undergoing procedures, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
  • Professional Development: Participate in the training and development of junior staff, contributing to their growth and enhancing the overall quality of care provided by the team.

Candidate Requirements:

  • UK NMC Registration:
  • Candidates must already hold a UK NMC registration to apply for this role.
  • Nursing Experience:
  • Previous experience in radiology or imaging is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Team Player:
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organizational Skills:
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, ensuring patient care is efficient and meets the highest standards.
  • Flexibility:
  • Willingness to rotate between the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital as required.

Work Environment:

The Imaging Department is based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital but also operates from Princess Royal Hospital and Hove Polyclinic. The department provides essential imaging services for a wide range of specialties, including neurosciences, arterial vascular surgery, neonatal and paediatric care, cardiac care, and cancer treatment. The hospital is a major trauma centre for Sussex and the South East.
