Job Overview
As a Radiology Department Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in providing high-quality radiographic services. Supporting radiographers and radiologists, you will assist with diagnostic and interventional examinations, ensuring patients receive exceptional care throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to radiographers, radiologists, and sonographers during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Assist in patient care, ensuring comfort and safety during examinations.
- Undertake a variety of clerical and administrative duties to ensure smooth departmental operations.
- Participate in the full departmental rota, including late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
- Cover shifts across multiple Trust sites, including the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital at Cramlington.
Main Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all Trust and department policies and procedures.
- Deliver radiography-related tasks professionally and efficiently, adhering to departmental protocols.
- Maintain high standards of patient care and communication.
- Support the team by responding to service needs, including covering for sickness and annual leave.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- A good basic education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Flexibility to travel between Trust sites as required.
Desirable Criteria:
- NVQ Level 2 in diagnostics and therapeutic support.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
