The Opportunity
Loughborough University is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our central Procurement Team. This pivotal role ensures the University maximizes value for money while maintaining compliance and effective risk management across a diverse range of goods and services.
Our Procurement Team operates a category management approach, with procurement professionals specializing in key areas such as IT & Telecoms, Estates, Laboratory, and Professional Services. The team oversees high-value and high-risk (£60k+) procurement exercises and coordinates requirements across the University’s schools and services.
As a Procurement Specialist, you will:
- Lead the development of procurement plans and strategies to optimize value for money.
- Act as an escalation point for contract managers addressing supplier performance challenges.
- Contribute to the University’s procurement strategy and ensure compliance with established rules.
Your Skills and Attributes for Success
- Strong knowledge of public procurement law and contract law.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional relationship-building and management skills.
