Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) Central Zone Medical Affairs is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary team at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. This role supports various departments, including Emergency, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Diagnostic Imaging, and reports to the Primary Supervising Physician. Working under the supervision of a Physician Lead, you will care for patients with diverse medical conditions, providing the opportunity to practice to your full scope. Key Responsibilities:

As a Physician Assistant, you will play a central role in delivering patient-centered care, including:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and making differential diagnoses.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests to guide clinical management.
• Providing direct clinical care, including consultations and referrals to other healthcare professionals.
• Educating patients and their families, addressing follow-up care needs.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
• Documenting all aspects of patient care and contributing to required clinical documentation.
• Reviewing clinical practices based on evidence-based guidelines.
• Supporting the discharge planning process and facilitating ongoing care management.
• Participating in program development, evaluation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Promoting positive team relationships and maintaining continuity of care.
• Pursuing ongoing education and professional development to meet CAPA and patient care standards.

In exceptional circumstances, you may provide additional services within your clinical competence under physician supervision.

Position Details:

• Employee Class: Regular Full-Time
• FTE: 1.00
• Hours per Shift: 7.75
• Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends
• Shifts per Cycle: 10
• Length of Shift Cycle: 2 weeks
• Days Off: As per rotation
• Minimum Salary: $45.75/hour
• Maximum Salary: $64.90/hour
• Vehicle Requirement: None

Required Qualifications:

• Graduation from a recognized Physician Assistant Education Program.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant with one of the following:
  • Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA): Certified by the Physician Assistants Certification Council of the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants.
  • Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C): Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in the United States.
• Active registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

Preferred and Additional Qualifications:

• Relevant experience or qualifications as required.
