Laboratory Services is currently seeking an ambitious and skilled professional to join the operational management team for a 12-month period. We’re looking for a driven and enthusiastic Operational Manager with strong communication and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will be a helpful, empowering, and engaging line manager who can lead with care to fully engage the team, praise when appropriate, and hold people accountable when necessary. You will have a track record of demonstrating leadership, serving as a role model for high-quality values and behaviour, and inspiring others to grow capabilities through service improvement and transformative change.
You will be joining us at a time of unparalleled change as we strive to modernise our Laboratory Services. We are now undergoing an ambitious transformation initiative, which includes the installation of Digital Pathology and a new LIMS system. You will need experience and knowledge of effective change management tools and practices.
Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required
The Operations Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and operational assistance to Laboratory Services at all four locations. This will be a challenging role with influence and impact across multiple sites, necessitating strong stakeholder management abilities through clear communication and visible leadership.
The chosen candidate will need to demonstrate that they have the experience and aptitude to manage a busy portfolio. You must have strong project management skills, as well as good interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and managerial leaders, patients, and service users.
You will be responsible for promoting University Hospitals Birmingham’s vision and values, setting a good example and showing those values via your leadership actions.
The Operations Manager is in charge of implementing the Trust’s Strategy, including ensuring the highest level of service uniformity across all relevant facilities, so that all of our patients receive equally high-quality care.
