Overview
Stegra is currently recruiting three full-time mechanics to strengthen our Mill-wide Services team in Boden. This permanent position forms a critical part of our mission to build one of the most advanced and sustainable steel facilities in the world.
Our mechanics ensure that cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment operate with maximum safety and efficiency, directly enabling production to run smoothly.
Role in Focus
The position involves maintaining, repairing, and upgrading mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems for cranes and lifting devices. You’ll be a hands-on specialist who prevents downtime, improves workflows, and ensures that safety is never compromised.
Working alongside operators and fellow technicians, you’ll contribute both technical knowledge and mentorship, reinforcing Stegra’s strong safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on cranes, hoists, and lifting installations.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Minimize disruptions by troubleshooting electromechanical equipment.
- Provide technical advice and suggest improvements to operators.
- Train and guide colleagues in safe maintenance practices.
- Follow strict safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, and ensure proper PPE use.
- Maintain orderly and safe work environments.
Qualifications
- Vocational or secondary education in mechanical engineering/maintenance.
- Certified training for working at heights and operating heavy equipment.
- Prior experience in heavy industry such as steel, mining, or large-scale manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to coach peers in safe and effective maintenance routines.
- Good command of English; Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.
- Physical ability to perform at heights and with hand tools.
