About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to join the MANIFEST consortium. This cutting-edge project focuses on integrated and multimodal approaches to predicting immune-oncology responses using a unique dataset.
The primary focus of this role will be on multiomics (RNASeq, WES, WGS), blood, and clinical data, with potential opportunities to expand into imaging modalities. You will contribute to developing state-of-the-art deep learning methods tailored to this remarkable dataset.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Software Engineering and AI team and the Cancer Dynamics lab at the Francis Crick Institute, as well as scientists, technicians, and other team members within the MANIFEST consortium.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Learning Development:
- Design and implement machine learning-based approaches to analyze project datasets.
- Stay informed on the latest advancements in the field by maintaining a library of related publications.
- Develop metrics to evaluate the performance of machine learning models in alignment with project goals.
- Pipeline & Software Development:
- Build high-quality, optimized, and maintainable data processing pipelines and software.
- Collaborate with clinical scientists, bioinformaticians, and project team members to fully understand the datasets and metadata.
- Establish and support standardized workflows for model development, including version control and automation.
- Documentation & Communication:
- Produce, update, and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Present project updates and results to the team and other collaborators.
- Assist with workload planning by providing accurate time estimates for tasks.
About You
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in machine learning, particularly in developing models for complex datasets.
- Experience with multiomics data analysis, including RNASeq, WES, and WGS.
- Familiarity with clinical and blood-based datasets.
- Strong software development skills, including pipeline creation, version control, and optimization.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with imaging modalities or an interest in expanding into this area.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks and tools.
