This position is for a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience designing electrical and lighting systems for rail and transportation facilities. This role is in charge of creating and revising electrical design calculations, technical reports, engineering drawings, and specifications for assigned projects. This position collaborates with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design, and delivery. Engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria are applied to projects of varying size and complexity. Utilises technical knowledge and experience to address design-related issues or concerns, collaborating closely with the project manager through creative problem solving, client interactions, and task completion to achieve project deadlines. Using contemporary drawing and technical tools, programmes, and software, develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to assist project completion. Mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineering professionals, as well as provide constructive criticism. As a team member, you will contribute to the effective completion of a wide range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

 

 

 

You’ll do the following:

 

  • Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, as well as project schedule and budget adherence.

 

  • Assists with marketing duties, including proposal generation.

 

  • Assists in the creation of project scope and effort levels for projects and/or assignments within the discipline.

 

  • Oversees the project team’s work within the technical discipline to ensure its completeness and accuracy. Guides and mentors team towards overall project goals.

 

  • At the staff level, coordinates technical components of the project with the customer counterpart and teaming partners for work within the discipline.

 

  • On multi-discipline projects, works together with other disciplines.

 

  • Other responsibilities may be allocated.

 

 

 

 

You will require the following items:

 

  • Engineering bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or

 

  • Engineering master’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or

 

  • 4 years of relevant experience and a PhD in engineering

 

 

 

 

What you’ll need to bring:

 

  • Electrical infrastructure includes power distribution system design for buildings, facilities, and stations.

 

  • Create the basis of a design report for electrical components, conduct load flow analysis for power distribution system sizing, and

 

  • Design electrical systems such as power, lighting, control and fire alarm systems, as well as single line diagrams and drawing details for electrical design and project selection of electrical equipment and luminaires.

 

  • In charge of developing and completing electrical engineering designs that are responsive to project requirements. Lead client technical communication for electrical design components.

 

  • Understands how decisions affect technical design and work planning.

 

  • Effectively coordinates work planning and design across many technical disciplines.

 

  • Produces high-quality deliverables on schedule, within budget and scope.What We Like:

 

  • Engineering Master’s Degree

 

  • 8 years of related experience

 

  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE)

 

  • Working knowledge of completing ADA construction packages

 

  • Knowledge of e-TAP, AGI32, or similar applications

The salary range for New York City and Westchester County, NY is around $106,445.94 – $173,429.55. Please keep in mind that the salary range indicated is a best-guess estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual pay will be determined by elements such as the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and talents, as well as the physical work location within the state.
