Summary
The GE90 Senior Powerplant Engineer is a member of the Customer Technical Programmes (CTP) team, reporting to the GE90/GP Customer Technical Programmes (CTP) Director within Services Technology Engineering. The job is responsible for driving important worldwide initiatives and projects, collaborating closely with the Customer Programme Teams, Systems Engineering, Fleet Analytics, Life Cycle Engineering, and Services Operations teams.
This position will play an important role in the business initiatives, both internally and through strategic partnerships with MRO shops. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining good working relationships with GE partners, airline customers, Engineering, Services Operations Teams, and Customer and Product Support teams.
Job Description.
Essential Responsibilities:
- As the GE90 CTP Senior Powerplant Engineer, you will be in charge of assisting the creation and transmission of technical programmes and commercial metrics, including, but not limited to:
- Development and/or execution of GE90/GP MRO global strategy.
- Works as coping support for allocated contracts. Negotiate repair specs with CSA customers. Effectively interact with the customer programme manager (CPM) to ensure quality technical consulting for CSA/T&M contracts.
- MRO NPI efforts are carried out globally, and developments in MRO capabilities for overhaul and repair are developed and/or supported.
- Fan Case Strategy, including the creation of additional Fan Case MRO facilities and capabilities.
- Shop/near-wing technology research and deployment.
- Develop and implement plans to meet technical and programme requirements, timetables, and customer obligations.
- Contractual profitability is achieved through the adoption of a cost management programme, work scope escalation trends, disaster recovery application, and leadership on escalation mitigation projects.
- Engine Turnaround in the shop programme implementation in collaboration with the shop by understanding the gate process and identifying/executing the projects.
Works as coping support for allocated contracts. Negotiate repair specs with CSA customers. Effectively interact with the customer programme manager (CPM) to ensure quality technical consulting for CSA/T&M contracts.
- Participate in pre-induction and gate evaluations for CSA clients to ensure that all technical workscope possibilities are examined and optimised.
- Coordinate with various functions to organise technical forums: recognise the need for technical and programme reviews within the organisation, lead reviews, and participate as a reviewer.
- Lead or participate in LEAN Kaizen events to drive best practices across MRO facilities.
- Engine manual (ESM/AMM) assembly methods
- Support Shop leading indicator programmes as needed.
- Drive standardisation among GE90/GP CTP teams to maximise the customer experience and business outcomes.
- Encourage and inspire a collaborative work style and demonstrate team-oriented behaviour by setting a proactive example of communication internally and externally.
- Coach and mentor junior members of the GE90/GP CTP team.
- Travel globally as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or computer science from an authorised university or college, or equivalent experience in the aerospace/mechanical industry
Desired characteristics:
- Advanced Engineering Degree from an Accredited University or College
- MRO or airline shop experience
- Previous experience with aviation engines, systems, aircraft, repair, or turbo machinery.
- Familiar with GE Aviation’s long-term service agreements, customer/product support role functions (CPM/CSM).
- Capable of efficiently managing multiple project obligations
- Previous experience promoting operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Experience with aircraft flight operations.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with customers.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
