College of Science and Engineering – College Office
Contract type: full-time (35 hours per week).
Fixed term: 12 months.
We are looking for an experienced individual with a background in research development, communications, and/or marketing to join the College of Science and Engineering and assist us promote our vision, successes, and methods to make a difference in the world. This is a twelve-month maternity cover position that offers you excellent opportunity to improve and broaden your experience in a variety of responsibilities. The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to use your professional skills to support, share, and contribute to the University of Edinburgh’s outstanding and world-changing research and education. The post-holder will collaborate closely with the College’s Deans, as well as senior academic and professional services managers from throughout the College and University, to advance the College’s thematic priorities in science, engineering, and mathematics. You will contribute significantly to the direction, creation, and delivery of communications and events, marketing, stakeholder collaborations, and public engagement, as well as internal interaction with our staff and student community.
The position holder will head a new and growing team within the College Office that provides communications, marketing, events, and outreach activities, as well as services to support the strategic development and promotion of the College’s research goals. You will collaborate with a diverse group of research support, business development, communications, and engagement experts from academic and specialist areas at the University and our partner organisations.
Your abilities and traits for success:
- Relevant expertise at various levels of responsibility in one or more of the following areas: strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, research and business development, and science writing/communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially connection building and persuasion.
- Proven ability and success in managing good stakeholder communications.
- Proven track record of team leadership and development.
