The Faculty of Technology aims to employ a Senior Technician in Digital Electronics to help contribute to our teaching and research initiatives in Energy & Electronic Engineering. An experienced electronic engineer has a fantastic opportunity to join our team and contribute to a diverse and active faculty. We are looking for someone to hire who is highly motivated, has supervisory experience, and wants to make a difference in the education of the next generation of engineers.
What will you be doing?
The schools, departments, and institutes that make up our faculty cover a wide range of subject areas. As a Senior Technician, this position will primarily focus on Energy and Electronic Engineering, but it will also be expected of them to assist as needed to other areas within the Faculty. The job holder will be responsible for the following tasks:
● Using digital and microcontroller systems
● Using analog electronics
● Electrical equipment setup and testing
● Equipment fault diagnosis and repair for laboratories
● knowledge of wiring and soldering
● Using software packages
● Aid academic staff in the creation and testing of certain experiments
● Making sure that all the electronic components are available, prepare and set up the labs.
Along with other technical staff members and academic colleagues, you will support learning activities. Direct supervision of other technical staff members and task coordination across several laboratory sections will be a part of this function. You will work closely with our students, ranging from undergraduate to PhD level, in this position.
The Faculty will make use of the postholders’ skills. Additionally, although though the post holder’s primary area of responsibility will be electronics, they will be expected to offer some level of technical assistance in other Faculty-wide topic areas. There will be support and training available.
