About the role
The primary goal of this position, which reports to the Head of Facilities and Services, is to support the Health and Safety Compliance Team in maintaining the University’s QHSE Management Systems in its entirety. actively taking part in the university’s activities for ongoing improvement to ensure that all standards for quality, health, safety, the environment, and customer satisfaction are met or exceeded.
The everyday administrative facets of health and safety, the environment, and supporting the maintenance of all health and safety management systems fall under the purview of the health and safety manager.
About you (requirements)
Strong leadership is necessary for the job of health and safety manager, thus you should be a fantastic communicator and team player. As much as it involves making policies, this position also involves managing people and their behavior.
So, you must be able to convey to Leaders at all levels the variety of health and safety concerns in their area of the organization and provide them with the attention and guidance that is appropriate. To establish a secure and dependable workplace, you need possess the abilities to coach and advise both leaders and employees.
You should be well-versed in the industry’s history and be able to recognize, assess, and deal with risks so you may influence the outcome favorably by addressing each one in the most appropriate manner. Ideally, you should be studying toward your Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health in addition to holding the NEBOSH General Certificate in Safety and Health.

The Estates and Services department constitutes a substantial component of the Professional Services section of the University whose purpose it is to help the academic staff/Schools in delivering respective curricula to over 8000 students. The Estate, including the Grounds, must be kept in immaculate condition at all times, and this is directly the responsibility of the Estates and Services department. The Director of Estates oversees the Estates and Services division, which is backed by three separate divisions: Maintenance and Grounds, Management and Strategy, and Facilities and Services.
