Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Our goal is to provide high-quality, person-centered care for older people in care homes and extra care housing across the UK. We are one of the biggest not-for-profit care providers in the country.
We care about each other and the people who live at OSJCT. That means you’ll have a lot of opportunities to advance your job if you work for a company that is growing. We don’t charge for our services, so we put all the money we make back into the people who live and work here. This means our residents will get better care and nicer homes, and our employees will get paid fairly and get a lot of chances to learn and grow.
We give great care because we work closely with top experts in dementia and caring for the old. We are also updating our portfolio of care homes right now by fixing up the ones we already have and going into brand-new, inspiring, modern care homes as well.
We need more people with the right mix of skills, energy, and drive to help us grow even more as we go national.
Eighty people live at Chestnut Court, which provides nursing and memory care in Quedgeley, which is just outside of Gloucester and in a residential area close to shops and restaurants. Our trendy home makes people feel like they are at home.

The care home Chestnut Court has 80 beds and is in the Gloucestershire town of Quedgeley. Nursing, dementia, and respite care are provided in a comfortable, homey setting at this high-quality nursing home. The Care Quality Commission gave us a Good rating and Carehome.co.uk gave us a 9.6 rating.
Every day, our care teams make a big difference. Your efficiency, kindness, and care will be at the heart of everything you do. You might be the only nurse on duty at times, and it will be your job to lead and manage the care team to make sure that high standards of nursing and personal care are met. You will also be expected to give professional leadership and direction when needed. You will plan, carry out, and re-evaluate each resident’s care needs in collaboration with their primary carers, family members, and the rest of the home’s staff. You will also communicate clearly with doctors, hospitals, and outside organisations.
About the role:
You will be given a lot of different clinical experiences to help you improve your skills and chances to move up in your job. All of this will happen in a supportive, interesting, and rewarding environment. You are going to be in charge of:
- Providing and overseeing the care team to make sure that the people get good personal care and are healthy.
- Provide all types of nursing care, even more advanced skills, as long as they have had the right training and been supervised.
- Being in charge of the care and support team on the nursing floor during a shift for the day.
- Make sure that all medicines, even controlled drugs, are ordered, kept, given, and thrown away in a way that follows the Trust’s Medicines Policy and the advice given by the NMC and CQC on drug administration.
- Make sure that all nursing and care staff keep paper and electronic care records and Trust records according to the rules for keeping records.
- Making sure that the multidisciplinary team, which includes hospitals and outside groups, can work well together with general practitioners (GPs).
About yourself:
You should already be registered with the NMC as a Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse. You will have experience after getting registered, be able to show that you have done activities for continuing professional development, and be able to work alone without any problems. You should have a good grasp of the rules and regulations, and you should also have experience with, or be ready to learn how to do, the following:
- Giving out medications
- Set up of a catheter
- Care at the end of life
- Proof that the person died
- Drivers for syringes
- Care for a gastostomy
- Needle pricking
- Being aware of diabetes
- Viability of tissue
- Awareness of epilepsy
- Care for people who are getting worse—sepsis awareness
You will set a good example because you will be able to communicate clearly and naturally get along with others at work. As an encouraging boss, you’ll push your staff to always give our people the best care possible.
What you’ll get in return:
What our nurses get in return is great. You can set your own hours and make your own decisions in our jobs, and you can get to know the residents in your care better by taking on a consultative and case-management role.
We’ve been caring for people for almost 1,000 years and are now the second biggest not-for-profit provider in the UK. The Trust is a great place to work. We never give any of the money we make back to the people who live and work in the care homes where we live and work because we are not-for-profit. Because of this, we offer a lot of benefits, such as a reasonable salary and opportunities for growth and training.
Since you are an important part of our team, you will also get the following:
- 30 days off, including days off for holidays
- More money on the weekends.
- Your NMC PIN update is fully paid for.
- Certificate of sponsorship will be sent to nurses who are qualified.
- A salary from work
- No cost uniform
- No cost DBS
- Our Employee Assistance Programme can be accessed
- You can get discounts on shopping, trips, restaurants, and a lot more with the Blue Light Card and the “My Rewards” scheme.
We could end this job before the end date, and you would not be notified in advance. If you’re interested, you should fill out an application as soon as possible.
