Job Summary
The post holder will be responsible for the department’s / ward’s effective and efficient day-to-day operations, including budget control, clinical governance, staff development, and training. The postholder is professionally responsible for upholding professional practice and care standards. They will give professional clinical leadership in a specific field, as well as guidance and inspiration to all members of the multidisciplinary team.
The position holder will be responsible for clinical practice, auditing, research, and teaching in order to establish, monitor, and constantly improve care and patient experience standards. The position holder is responsible for safe, effective clinical practice, managing and improving team performance, and managing a devolved budget to ensure efficient and effective use of physical and human resources.
Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required
As a visible clinical nurse leader, encourage teamwork in a multiprofessional setting. Leading and ensuring that care planning and delivery are consistent with professional principles such as care, compassion, and respect. Demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making abilities, directing the delivery of consistent high-quality evidence-based care, and influencing and promoting change within the ward or department.
Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical areas while ensuring that all actions and interactions with patients are based on high-quality, current evidence-based nursing care.
Use and promote patient outcome metrics and nurse sensitive indicators to sustain and enhance practice in a variety of areas, including care delivery, effective clinical assessment, and prompt medication administration. Monitor care outcomes through audits and take necessary action when standards fall below expected levels.
Ensure that care standards and record keeping are consistent with NMC guidelines, Trust and national policies, procedures, standards, and guidance.

*Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register

*Qualification in healthcare management or leadership
Experience

*Professional Portfolio that indicates continued professional development and the ability to maintain professional registration.
*Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience as a Deputy Manager Band 6 in a complicated health care or acute NHS context, including supervision and instruction of junior staff/students.
*Can demonstrate understanding, expertise, and practice-based supervision and assessment as outlined in the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for student supervision and assessment.
*Provide current, recent experience in team leadership and management in the healthcare setting.
