The BSOL Procurement Collaborative (BSOLPC), hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), offers procurement and supply chain services to University Hospitals Birmingham, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FT, and Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS FT.
The procurement team supports the delivery of high-quality patient care while ensuring value for money through compliant processes, as well as contributing to the development and effective delivery of the Procurement Strategy, which drives quality and value across the BSOLPC.
The Trust is searching for a proactive, self-motivated, ambitious Procurement Category Manager to join our expanding, award-winning team at Regent Court in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The post will involve a portfolio of activities related to Mental Health services across the BSOLPC Trusts.
While the post is situated in Regent Court, Birmingham, there is an expectation that you will routinely engage with stakeholders by visiting or working at any of the BSOL PC sites as needed.
The primary objectives are to identify and develop prospective possibilities to pursue efficiency and savings targets (cash and non-cashable) utilising a variety of analytical tools.

Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required
To provide support for the Head of Procurement to interface and engage with stakeholders and deliver services as agreed upon by all Trusts under the BSOL Procurement Collaborative (BSOLPC).
Ensure compliance with all Public Procurement legislation regarding NHS Procurement rules, Trust Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions, and departmental policies and procedures.
Identify projects focusing on Mental Health categories across the BSOLPC to establish the annual procurement work plan by developing close working connections with the relevant internal Heads of Service, Divisional Directors, and Senior Management Teams.
Responsible for leading, facilitating, and timely managing and delivering the tender process, which includes preparing all relevant documentation, supporting material, and data, as well as analysing and evaluating accepted tender bids. Applying analytical skills while considering other influencing elements in the decision-making process. Compile and present suggestions based on collaborative work with stakeholders in a clear and straightforward way for acceptance.
Effectively manage internal operations and resources to enable the delivery of cash and non-cashable targets in accordance with the annual work plan and NHS Saving Methodology, with the goal of driving continual improvement and efficiency.
