JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer in Oxfordshire.

DIDCOT

A Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer is needed in a growing, medium-sized contractor. This position is based near Didcot.

Overview

Our client is one of the largest earthworks contractors in the UK, collaborating with major civil engineering firms to undertake significant infrastructure projects in the transport sector.

The chosen candidate will join a developing company that values operational excellence in a team atmosphere and provides a variety of options within a progressive career path.

For this role, our client invites individuals that meet a variety of the competencies/requirements listed below, with some designated as favoured or desired.

They are also happy to assess individuals with relevant industry experience who have work permits or need visa sponsorship.

Requirements

 

  • Higher education in civil engineering, land surveying, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with a civils contractor in a site role, including survey and set-out (delivering the QA and TQ’s preferable).
  • Good knowledge of basic mathematics (trigonometry and basic statistics).
  • Strength with Microsoft Excel specifically and the MS Office suite in general
  • Clear, succinct, and precise textual delivery of technical knowledge
  • Engineering sketching abilities (including by hand)
  • Personal time management and workload planning
  • Use of GPS survey and setting out is particularly desirable.
  • Writing risk assessments and task briefings in coordination with colleagues (such as earthmoving operations is recommended).
  • Providing the QA/QC role for civil engineering projects (ideally earthworks).
  • Technical examination of work information for complex works and raising and executing to resolution of TQs is desirable.
  • Day-to-day planning of work in collaboration with coworkers is desirable.
  • Driving Licence is necessary.
